Lost Items during 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek.
Please ensure the safety of your personal belongings during the 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek. It is crucial to be mindful of where you leave your items. Always remember to collect all your belongings from our vans, tents, restaurants, and other locations. Avoid leaving anything behind unintentionally while hiking, as other trekkers or teams may innocently pick it up without knowing the rightful owner.
Group Tours.
Joining a group tour offers an extraordinary experience for individuals of all ages and hiking abilities. It’s important to note that within the group, some participants may move at different paces. To ensure a personalized journey, our knowledgeable guide will attentively accompany each member. About Strikes
Strikes are a frequent occurrence in Peru, often leading to significant disruptions in our Tours. These can manifest as road closures and halted train services. At SUNRISE PERU TREK Travel & Tours, we make every effort to ensure the continuity of your Tour, even taking the proactive measure of departing the night before your scheduled start date. However, please bear in mind that tours may have to be cancelled in such circumstances. In such cases, SUNRISE PERU TREK Travel & Tours Operation Department will work closely with you to find the most suitable alternative. Please rest assured that your safety always takes precedence, guiding our decision-making process.
About Tipping.
Tipping is always appreciated if you are satisfied with the services provided. While it may not be customary in your country, it holds great significance for the individuals who will be taking care of you throughout your trek. Not only does it inspire them to provide exceptional service, but it is also deeply embedded in the tourism industry across various destinations offered by SUNRISE PERU TREK Travel & Tours. It is worth noting that tipping is not obligatory, and the amount you choose to give can be adjusted depending on your perception of the quality of service and the duration of your trip. Ultimately, the decision to tip rests with you, and it should be done in recognition of outstanding service received.

About Weather.
Weather in Cusco can be unpredictable, with occasional rain even during the dry season from April to October. To make the most of your trek, it’s important to be prepared. Regardless of the month, make sure to have rain gear that includes a waterproof jacket, pants, poncho, and gloves. Don’t forget about gloves as being cold and wet can make hiking unpleasant.
Additionally, be ready for different seasons as many Andes treks go through multiple micro-climates. Layering is key to adjust to varying temperatures, and make sure to have a warm winter weight jacket for chilly evenings.
It’s worth mentioning that weather conditions can impact the planned itinerary. At times, routes may become impassable, and in such cases, the guides at SUNRISE PERU TREK Travel & Tours will adapt the itinerary for your safety.

1.- How long is the Salkantay Trek?
The Salkantay Trek is an incredible adventure route that features some of the world’s most breathtaking mountain views. Spanning approximately 89 km (55 miles) through the Peruvian Andes, this trek is one of the most popular hikes in South America and takes hikers to a maximum altitude of 4600 meters (15,092 feet).
2.- What is the difficulty level of the Salkantay Trek?
The 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek is one of the most challenging treks in the world. While it can be done by any person with a moderate level of physical fitness, an average traveler or tourist should consider it quite difficult.
At an altitude of 4,600m (15,092 feet) at its peak, the Salkantay Challenge Trek is no walk in the park. With 3 days and 2 nights spent hiking up and down steep inclines reaching as high as 5,000m (16405 ft), this trek will test both your endurance and strength.
For those who are not used to walking at such elevations or for extended periods of time throughout each day, you may experience more difficulty than those accustomed to long hikes on a daily basis. It’s important to have realistic expectations prior to embarking on this trek: while completing it successfully is possible for nearly everyone with some training beforehand – don’t expect to bound over every hill without any consequences! Altitude sickness can affect even those who are highly fit – spending at least two days in Cusco acclimatizing before starting out is recommended
3.- What is the most challenging part of the 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek?
The 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek is a challenging yet rewarding journey, and the most demanding part of it is undoubtedly reaching the summit of the Salkantay Pass. Situated at an altitude of 4,650 meters above sea level, this section of the trek requires determination and strength from hikers as they brave cold temperatures and windy conditions on their way up.
Altitude sickness can be a real concern when undertaking such treks. The effects may range from mild dizziness to severe symptoms like vomiting or difficulty in breathing. If you feel any symptoms during your ascent, it’s important to rest for a while at lower altitudes and seek medical help if required. Oxygen will also be available at higher elevations for anyone who needs it.
4.- Is there cell phone coverage during the Trek?
For those planning to hike the 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek, one of the most important questions you may ask is whether or not there is cell phone coverage. The answer depends on what type of phone you have and at what points along the trek you are located.
In many areas, cellular service can be spotty due to the mountainous terrain. Those with GSM-compatible phones (AT&T and T-Mobile) may find some coverage in certain places, but this should not be relied upon for communication during your journey. It’s important to remember that charging your phone will also be impossible throughout much of the trip as there are no outlets available.
That said, a satellite phone will be carried by one of our trek leaders so that emergency calls can still be made if necessary. We highly suggest travelers come prepared with their own dedicated form of communication – such as a handheld radio – should an urgent situation arise while out on the trails!
5.- What is the weather like on 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek?
The Private Salkantay Trek is a spectacular and challenging trekking route through the beautiful Andes mountain range, located in the Cusco region of Peru. Along this beautiful journey you will encounter vastly different terrains and altitudes, which means very varied climates.
As the trail leads up to 4,500 meters at its highest point near Salkantay Pass, it is exposed to some extreme weather conditions that can be dangerous if not prepared for appropriately. Temperatures near the pass can drop below freezing and strong winds can make things even more difficult if you don’t have proper gear. Additionally, snowfall can occur as well in higher elevations during certain parts of the year (usually between May – August). It’s important to check with local adventure companies regarding what kind of weather you might expect depending on when your group plans on taking on this amazing trek.
6.- What is the difference between the Salkantay Trek and the Inca Trail?
When it comes to trekking through the stunning Peruvian Andes, two of the most popular routes are the Salkantay Trek and the Inca Trail. Both provide great experiences and amazing photo opportunities, but there are some key differences between them.
The 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek is widely known for its incredibly beautiful mountain scenery that takes trekkers up to 15000 feet above sea level. It winds through snow-capped peaks and lush valleys, offering stunning views all along its length. While it is considered to be more strenuous than other trails in Peru, such as Choquequirao or Ausangate, many consider this trek to be well worth the effort due to its immense beauty and rich cultural significance.
On the other hand, the Inca Trail offers a diverse mix of landscapes including rolling hillsides covered in colorful wildflowers as well as high mountain passes with breathtaking views of glaciers and lagoons. While not as challenging as other trails such as Salkantay or Choquequirao, it is nevertheless a classic trail that has been walked by people for centuries since pre-Colombian times.
7.- What is the minimum age for the 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek?
The minimum age for the Private Salkantay Trek is 12 years old. This trek is an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience that will take you through some of the most stunning landscapes in Peru. It’s important to remember that children under 12 years old may not enjoy or be able to complete this trek and should have the physical stamina to walk for 90 minutes without needing to be carried.
8.- What is the best time to hike the Salkantay Trek?
The 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek is one of the most challenging hikes in Peru, boasting some of the world’s most stunning landscapes and incredible views. As a result, the trek sees hundreds of thousands of people each year from all over the world who come to experience its beauty.
When it comes to deciding on the best time for hiking this trail, there are many factors that must be considered. The dry season lasts from April to November in Cusco, with May and October offering ideal weather conditions for this hike. During these months, you will be able to enjoy blue skies with a light breeze during your journey. The average temperature range during these months is 10-20°C (50-68°F). It is also important to note that rain showers can occur even if it isn’t raining; so don’t forget your windbreaker!
9.- Can I hike the Salkantay Trek on my own?
Hiking the Salkantay Trek independently is possible, but it carries a certain amount of risk. The trail isn’t always well-marked and can be difficult to follow in some areas. With no experience or knowledge of the route, the trek could easily become incredibly challenging and dangerous – something you’ll want to avoid on a three-day hike like this one.
Fortunately, hiring a tour agency like SUNRISE PERU TREK Tavel & Tours can make your life much easier. They offer daily trips from Cusco with experienced local guides who have done the routes many times and can help keep you safe along the way. Their treks include all necessary equipment including tents, sleeping bags, first aid supplies and food for campfire cooking instructions. All of their staff members are familiar with mountain rescue protocols so everyone will be safe in case of an emergency situation during the hike.
10.- Can I hike the 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek with children?
Absolutely! Children above 12 years of age and in good physical shape are most definitely allowed to join you on the 5-Day Private Salkantay Trek. However, it is important to note that this trek should not be taken lightly and requires a considerable amount of preparation and experience.
For younger children, we recommend starting with smaller hikes near home or local parks before taking on an ambitious multi-day trek like the Private Salkantay Trek. This way they can become accustomed to hiking for long stretches of time and build up their physical endurance beforehand. It also helps them develop proper techniques for navigating different terrain types, such as mud paths or rocky trails – both of which are abundant during the Salkantay trek.
