DESCRIPTION
The trip named “Salkantay Trek Package” begins once you arrive to the city of Cusco, where you’ll explore the Inca and colonial buildings; then travel by bus through the sacred valley of the Incas and visit the Inca ruins of Pisaq and Ollantaytambo. This two days will help you adequately in your acclimatization process. The tour continues walking in the Andes from the village of Mollepata to Machu Picchu; and explore the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
This trekking route isn’t just perfect for the dramatic views of lofty mountains, but is also the best in terms of the diversity in climate (Tropic-1,500m to Arctic-6,271m), altitude (deepest gorge to the high pass – 4,600m), landscape (tropical forest featuring rare species of plants and animals, terminal moraine, snow line and barren land), trail (steep, narrow, icy, windy and dusty). It is a trek opened to everybody, with no limitation on spaces or permits (at least for now) connecting the town of Cusco with the town of Mollepata and Machu Picchu Inca Sanctuary.

SHORT ITINERARY
DAY 1: Cusco:
First of all, arrival to Cusco at any time; So, our staff will be waiting for you in the airport and transfer you to the designated hotel.
DAY 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas:
A full-day tour includes visiting the market in Pisac and tour at the Inca ruins of Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
DAYS 3-6: Trekking to Machupicchu:
Transfer to the head of the trail and start the 4-day Trek to Machupicchu. Stunning views of Salkantay Mountain, Humantay Mountain among others. Nights are spent camping under the stars. Spectacular mountain scenery and breathtaking views as the trek descends from the heights of the Andes to the lush of subtropics.
DAY 7: Explore Machu Picchu:
Enjoy two-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu. Optional climb up of Huyana Picchu Mountain or Visit to the Inca Bridge or the Sungate. Finally, we’ll return to Cusco.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON SALKANTAY TREK PACKAGE?
Day 1: Arrival to Cusco:
The trip begins once you arrive to Cusco airport at any time, you will be welcomed in and transferred to your hotel, rest and acclimatize as you are now at 3,400 m / 11155ft; Explore the city walking slowly.
Day 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas:
The Sacred Valley Tour starts at 07:30 a.m, we’ll travel from Cusco past the Inca ruins of Saqsaywaman and Tambomachay over the mountains toward the fertile Sacred Valley of the Incas considered the main entrance for Machu Picchu. Sacred Valley is a lush of agricultural region that continues to supply the city of Cusco with much of its products. We will visit the extraordinary Pisac Inca ruins and the colourful artisan market where you can purchase some handicrafts directly from the producers.

The day trip finishes in the picturesque village of Ollantaytambo, we will visit also the Ollantaytambo Inca ruins that are known as the best surviving example of Inca urban planning and engineering. On our return, we quickly visit the famous church and archeological site in Chinchero, arriving to Cusco at about 06:30-07:00 p.m. Accommodation in the hotel in Cusco.
DAYS 3-6: Trekking to Machu Picchu:
At 05:30 a.m, we’ll leave Cusco toward the village of Mollepata here we’ll start the Trek accompanied by our support staff; the trek will take us by spectacular views of the majestic Salkantay Peak also through other snow mountains.
The first day, we will camp at Soraypampa; on the second day we will see the scenery change from dry mountain landscapes to more tropical surroundings. On second day, we will ascend to 4,600 m / 15091ft above sea level (Salkantay Pass). From here the views are spectacular towards the mountains of Umantay, Chullunco and Salkantay. Descending from the pass, we will camp at Chullay.
Next day, we’ll continue through tropical forest and camp at “Playa Sawayaco”; maybe the most beautiful village of the trek. Finally, the trek takes us into the tropical surroundings and to the town of Hydroelectric from where we continue the trek by the railway to the town of “Aguas Calientes” and have accommodation in the hotel and be ready for Machu Picchu the next day.K

After an early breakfast in the hotel, we’ll take the bus and take advantage of viewing Machu Picchu in the early morning light. This is the best time to view the “Lost City of the Incas”. You will have a 2 – 3 hour-tour where we’ll visit the most important sites like: the Agricultural site, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Mother Earth, the quarry of Machu Picchu, and the Temple of the Andean cosmology, the Sundial and other interesting places. In the afternoon, we’ll return by train to Ollantaytambo and then you’ll be transferred by van to Cusco.
